Memory Lane~~~
Probably 75% of the time, Bret went along with my harebrained schemes, and the other 25% he put his foot down, more likely than not, to save me from myself! The more I look back, in retrospect, the more I have come to understand the depths of his love for me. My amazing husband allowed me the freedom to grow and change and experience life and encouraged me to become a deeper, more well-rounded person. He went along with so many things I asked of him (albeit with a deep sigh and a roll of his eyes), sometimes even enthusiastically! Maybe it was because we were both young at heart, or possibly we just were never-ending students--I do know we never ran from the learning curve; guess it must have been the challenge of it all, who knows? Today's trip was in memory of one of those moments he left his comfort zone for my latest whim. I asked him to take Wilshire Blvd. from the 405 all the way to Santa Monica Beach. That man HATED stoplights when riding on the motorcycle, especially in LA LA Land! But before we knew it, we were at the pier, eating at one of our favorite restaurants, Bubba Gump's. And, of course, this was only ONE of many roads I talked him into riding our Honda 1800 VTX down! We went up and down the Pacific Coast Highway I don't know how many times. When he was riding and we were together, he was at his happiest, I guess. That dynamic definitely expanded both of our horizons! So, touche' Babe! I spent between 6-7 hours driving to and through and from LA today, in your honor, and I had fish for you, as well! I wonder if you like the taste of fish now that God is preparing your meals? HA! HA! I love you to Heaven and back, Bret!
